Dungarvan is also the start of the popular tourist attraction the Waterford Greenway which is a newly re-opened stretch of old railway linking Dungarvan and Waterford City , includes three stunning viaducts ,a long tunnel and spectacular coastal and mountain views . It is a family friendly attraction with walkers and cyclists of all ages enjoying exploring the area. There is access and parking for the Greenway along the route and pleasant stops for refreshment such as O’Mahoney’s Pub at Durrow which is close to the Ballyvoyle tunnel.
There are bike hire shops in Dungarvan, Durrow, Kilmacthomas and Waterford, which can provide you with a bicycle and collect you if you only want to cycle in one direction, or a particular stretch of the line. Tourist maps of the Greenway feature points of access and interest. The final stretch of the Waterford Greenway coming into the outskirts Waterford city runs along -side the heritage Suir Valley railway past the beautiful Mount Congreve Gardens and the river Suir.
